Does DIRECTV internet require a phone line?
Only plans up to 100 Mbps from AT&T, DIRECTV’s internet partner, require a phone line. That doesn’t mean you have to order a monthly phone package, though. It just means that AT&T uses the existing telephone jack in your home to send signal over the grid.
AT&T fiber packages are a different story. Plans start at a generous 300 Mbps and never require a phone line to connect your internet service.
What internet speed do I need for DIRECTV?
You need download speeds of at least 8 Mbps per active streamer to watch DIRECTV on the streaming app.
Keep in mind, though, that you’ll rarely use your internet just to watch DIRECTV. The more often you multitask online, play data-heavy games, or support two or more people on your network, the more speed you should order.
